It can't be a taco if...

...it comes in a hard shell. This is an American variation of the Mexican taco. Tacos in Mexico are served on two small soft corn tortillas. You'll never find a hard shell taco anywhere in Mexico.

Best Taco Bus in Rexburg?

Great tacos al pastor we found in Monterrey, Mexico!

I know there are going to be varying opinions on this, but I personally like Taqueria El Rancho (208-206-5723) over by Les Schwab Tires. To me they've got the best tacos al pastor (spicy pork) in town. Their tacos de carne asada (beef) and carnitas (pork) are good too. One order of four tacos will fill you up pretty good and the price is right for anyone on a budget, $4.50.

The only down side of their tacos al pastor is that you won't see the meat grilling on a rotating spit nor will you get grilled pineapple on it like you will in Mexico City.

There are two other taco buses in town as well. I've eaten at both as well. For my preferences I put Tacos Izcalli (next to northside Horkleys) ahead of Tacos Tepito (next to Custom
Auto). My problem with Tacos Tepito is that each time I've eaten there, the meat has been too tough. In all honestly, I should give them a try again as maybe it was just a bad day in the kitchen.

What is Rexburg Foodie?

Like Anthony Bourdain and Andrew Zimmern, I like to eat. While I might not be as adventurous as they are in what they will eat, I do look for things that are out of the ordinary. What I hope to accomplish here is to share with you places where I like to eat in our town of Rexburg, Idaho. And if I come across something unique or unusual while on the road somewhere, I'll share that with you too. So grab a napkin and your appetite and let's see where we go!
